Notes on Sawing or Piercing
Author: Sunette van den Berg
(28 April 2010)
Difficulty: Easy
When you cut out metal with a piercing saw, the blade will cut only on the down stroke. |
|
You should try to develop an easy rhythmic action using the entire length of the blade when sawing. When the blade gets stuck lift your work and let the blade find its natural position before continuing.
Remove your saw from your metal every now and again and run it through a piece of beezwax to lubricate the blade, always from top to bottom. When removing your saw reverse the sawing action and while moving the blade up and down, gently pull the blade through the path already sawed until it is free. |
